Lilybeth Dooley

Yesterday was a big day for our daughter. She turned 8 weeks old on the 12th, and yesterday she received her 2 month shots, (4 shots total). It was a good thing daddy came a long to comfort his little girl because mommy was too busy crying. =-( I think it hurt me worse than it hurt her. It was terrible to hear her scream like that. All I wanted was to take the pain away from her.

Kevin was great. The whole time we were in the doctors office he held and talked to her. Since I’m her source of food, she tends to cling to mommy, but when we were in the doctors office all she wanted was her daddy. Even at 8 weeks of age, Lily knows that her daddy is their to protect and comfort her. It’s amazing how that happens when you have a kid. The whole time yesterday I kept thinking, wow, God chose us to be her parents. What a huge responsibility He gave us.

It makes me wonder how He feels when we are hurt and need Him to comfort us. How must it feel for Him to see us suffer and be in pain (usually self inflicted)? Lily’s shots were only a minor, temporary discomfort and yet she knew to have her daddy comfort her. I wonder how it would be if everyone knew they could go to their heavenly father to relieve their pain. Sometimes I think I forget that I can do that. That I’m not going through life by myself. He is in control, and He can comfort us in the best way possible.

Lily had another major accomplishment yesterday, she rolled over by herself for the first time, and her daddy got to see it!!! When God gives us a blessing, we should savor the moment! No matter how small, or big!

Hi Everyone,

I’m enjoying being a mom so much! Lily has started sleeping 5 hours at a time! So I get up at 3:30, and then around 8:00. We’re both amazed at how fast she grows. She looks completely different than she did two weeks ago. She’s starting to develop a personality. She’s started cooing and smiling. It makes mommy’s day when she smiles at me!

We’ve ran into a problem with our doggies. Tank has decided he doesn’t like Lily. He’s starting to do destructive things like poop on the floor, and today he destroyed our carpet in one of our rooms. This is a huge problem! We’re renting so that will be really fun to explain to our landlord. Ugh!

Oh well, the most important thing is that Lily’s healthy and she’s growing the way she should be. I’m such a proud mommy! I’m excited because I went to my 6 week check up and I weigh 3lbs less than I did when I was first pregnant! Woo-hoo!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven’t written on the site yet.  I’ve been a little busy. =-)

After a few sleepless  nights, and help and advise from both mom’s and my best friend, Lily is finally sleeping during the night!  I can’t tell you how happy I am!  Although, even with no sleep, I can’t get enough of her.  Lily is truly a blessing in our lives!  She’s this amazing little person who has Daddy’s forehead and unfortunatley, Mommy’s feet.  Every time I look at her I thank God for giving me this perfect little girl.  I just can’t believe that He chose us to be her parents.  I can’t wait to see what He has in store for our little girl.  I just pray that we can watch her grow up and succeed in helping her a long the way without messing up too bad as parents.  I know that being her mommy is going to be the most important thing I do in my life, and I’m so excited about that.  Finally, I’m a mom!

Lilybeth Erin Dooley joined us at 6:37 this evening, weighing in at 8 lbs 4 oz and measuring 19.5 inches!
